Friendz dears.....when we met last time I posted a story connected with Puttaparthi's life. Is n't it? Pl. have a look at the following photo and the background behind it also.

 This is the photo at New Delhi in a sahitya sabha where maa ayyagaru Dr.Puttaparthivaru gave a guest lecture on Telugu literature in a meeting arranged by Sri Damodaram Sanjivayyagaru, the then M.P. in 1964. Puttaparthivaru went to New Delhi to receive award as 'Best Teacher'. Damodaramvaru  was very excited and recollected Puttaparthi's poem from 'SHAJEE' (one of his telugu text books) as he used to like it as an intermediate student.

Though Sanjivayyagaru was Puttaparthi's ardent worshiper,  Puttaparthi never used Sanjivayya's  reverence in any of the ways.That was Puttaparthi who only had a deep faith on his own caliber. 
Any how Puttaparthi was well honored after his lecture with a shawl and Rs.516/ (which was a good amount in those days), he came back to Kadapa with a complete satisfaction that his worth has been honored well. do u agree friendz that was the great wisdom of  50 year old Puttaparthi.

Here is another important story that is also connected to maa ayyagaru Puttaparthivaru's life itself.
I think u all remember the name of 'PITT' a British lady whom my ayyagaru remembers very obediently again and again as his english teacher, who taught him Shakespeare, Milton, Byron, Keats and Shelly. At the age of 13-14, he was introduced to english literature by her. when we (DDK, Hyd. team) all went to Penugonda in connection with his documentary, he recollected many a things from his childhood,sitting  before the building where Mrs.Pitt  lived. Now pl. go thru the following news item connected to Mrs.Pitt who is mentioned in Puttaparthi's life too.

Friendz....Puttaparthivaru-maa ayyagaru was deprived of mother's 

affection as he lost his mother at the very tender age of four. 

But he remembers very clearly that his father Shriman Puttapathi Tirumala Sreenivasacharya and his mother Smt Mendamma (Puttaparthi himself mentioned his mother's name as Mendamma in some places, as Lakshmamma in some places, but in one of his most important letters, he mentioned her name as 'Mendamma' the telugu version for Alamelu Mangamma) used to write letters in poetic form describing the cute child 'balanarayana's (Puttaparthi) childishness. As maa ayyaaru lost his mother in very tender age, he found his mother in JILLELLAMUDI ammagaru and so he used to visit Jillellamudi seceral times. I also went to Amma, twice along with my father. My mother Smt.Puttaparthi Kanakamma, my lil.sis. Smt. Puttaparthi Anuradha also went there along with him once or twice. So maa ayyagaru wept like a child before Jillellamudi amma as he got that motherly affection from her.

While I was  working at All India Radio, Hyderabad, as a Producer (1988 to 1994) I looked after Folk music section for a long time. I was and am happy that I got a great opportunity to work for the section handled by Smt.Vinjamuri Seeta Devi. I  being a singer and collector of folk songs,  contributed a lot for that section by doing regular Auditions, recording original Folk songs by rustic singers like Sarvasri Suddala Balayya, 'Andesri' (now very famous cine lyricist) V.Sreenivas ('pilla neevuleni jeevitham' fame of block buster film 'Gabbar Singh' ) S.Prabhakar, M.Narasimha Murthy, Chukka Sattaiah, Midde Ramulu (Oggukatha famous) and so on.
I used to present 'Magazine programmes' on folk lyrics, ballads and folk culture too.
In that series I used to record sri Mallepally Lakshmayya garu today's famous Telangana activist, Acharya Kasireddy Venkata Reddygaru, Sri Gopu Linga Reddygaru, Acharya ravi Bharathi, Acharya Nayani Krishnakumari etc. In those series once I recorded Sri Kapu rajayya also on 'Telangana pat paintings'. 

As I talked to him twice or thrice on phone regarding the topic and the type of questions I have to frame, I told him that I am 4th daughter  of Dr.Puttaparthivaru. He was so excited and told me that he will bring a gift to me while coming for the interview...On the  date of recording, after his interview he has taken out very valuable gift from his bag for me..Can u guess what it might be? ......Pl. guess until my next post....Don't forget to come back to me tomorrow to know the gift he presented to me...OK?

The following is the BIO-DATA of Puttaparthivaru - maa  ayyagaru prepared with his approval by Sri Ramapathi raju, a close admirer of Puttaparthi. He used to regularly visit our house during 1970s while he was working at Zilla grandhalaya Samstha,,Kadapa. As u all know my father was very fond of books, he used to go to the ZGS and used to read books sitting along with the students and visitors there in Kadapa.
Sri Ramapathi Raju was assisting my father in supplying the books he wanted from library, writing important letters to VIPs in english and chit chating also.
Now pl. follow this BIO DATA of maa ayyagaru  prepared probably during 1978.

Friendz, In 4th page , u can see that Puttaparthivaru used to do ASTAVADHANAMS also. He used to contribute Sanskrit  articles to UDAYAN. he was at Nainital for 28days along with the famous Hindi writers like Sumitranandan panth, Mahadevi varma, Dinakar and other 'Indian Poets.
I feel with my limited knowledge even now that no Telugu poet is having as vast Knowledge and depth in 14 languages like him along with  proficiency in Vyakarana, Alankara sastras,  karnatak music, classical dance, special eloquency in all formats of literature like Poetry, prose, criticism, translation and deep knowledge of Music even. U all know that 'The Oriental Manuscrits Library' has released his'Astakshari Kruthulu (1001 lyrics) recently.

Friendz dear......I am thankful to the editorial board of  'SALIVAHANA' monthly social, cultural and political monthly magazine (Hyderabad) for releasing their March Magazine with maa ayyagaru's PHOTO. This is the cover page of Puttaparthivaru's PRABANDHA NAYIKALU published in 1941 that was later Prescribed by The Madras University for B.A. exam in 1946 and The Annamalai University for B.A. B.Sc. 2nd part exam in 1946. Sriman Rallapalli Anantha Krishna Sarmagaru wrote FOREWORD for this book.The same was republished in 1954.
Articles on the prabandha nayikalu 'Girika' 'Varudhini' 'Suranna Prabhavathi' and 'Satyadevi' are in this book.

Friendz, The above is the photos taken in 1957 while Puttaparthivaru was invited to give extensive lectures on 'Tenali Ramakrishna' by The Kurnool Osmania Kalasala Telugu Bhasha Samithi which were again published as "Ramakrishnuni Rachana Vaikhari" by them in the same year.
The second one is the first page of "Rayalanati rasikatha jeevanamu' published in 1953 in which Puttaparthivaru described the social life of Vijayanagara empire based on the writings of the then foreign travellers like NUIZ, Frederick  and also Amukthamalyada, Manucharitra and other kavyas of that time.
 'Telugu Teerulu' is the lecture articles on Tenali Ramakrishna arranged by Telangana Rachayilata sangham in 1953..
Andhra Saraswatha Parishath invited Puttaparthivaru in 1957 to give extensive lectures on Pothana Bhagavatham and the same were published by the name 'Andhra Maha Bhagavathopanyasamulu'.
'Mahabharatha Vimarsanamu' is Puttaparthivaru's analytical study of Vyasa's Bharatham with special reference to Dritarashtra, Duryodhana, Shakuni, Karna and Krishna. This was published in 1965 and reprinted by me in 2001.
'Vasucharitra Sahitee sourabham' (1970) is also lecture articles given at Bheemavaram on the invitation of Sri Ramarajabhushana Sahitya Parishath'.
'Vaggeyakarulu-Padakrithi Sahityam' (1973) was published by the cultural department of AP in connection with the very first World Telugu Conference.
'Vijayanagara samaajika charitra' (1966) was also a critical study of Vijaya nagara reign by Puttaparthivaru which was again published by me along with other series of articles  (that were published by "Andhra Prabha sachitra vara patrika" in 1982) like 'Vidyaranya' 'Jayateertha' 'Sreegiribhattu' and other famous personalities related to Vijayanagara reign. that book was named as 'Marapurani Madhura Gadha'.
The other books that are included in 'Puttaparthi Vachana, Vimarsa sankalanam' are .Vyasa sourabham' written for the then PUC (tel) students, 'Vyasa Valmikam'(compilation of Puttaparthi's articles on Dravidian Literature) published by me in 2004, and 'Prakritha Vyasa manjari' (2000) a collection of Puttaparthi's prakritha literature articles.

Dear friendz.....The above is the coverpage of maa ayyagaru's historical novel 'HARIDASI'  which is the famous story of DEFEAT of GOLKONDA king 'Abul Hasan' by 'Alamgheershaw'-Aurangazeb. 
Though I read it twice in the past, again I read the complete novel at a stretch in 3 hours and such is the power of historic novels and partcularly in this,  the writing skill of Dr.Puttaparthivaru also.
The novel is intervened with the characters of Sambhaji(son of Shivaji), Madanna(vazir of the then Golkonda Nawab Abul Hasan)
Shah Alam(1st son of Aurangazeb) Aurangazeb himself, one dare an' beautiful woman saint (wife of Hari vitthalaraya) another dare devil Mumtaz.
The screenplay is very interesting and well netted with good dialogues, descriptions, language and subtle humor too.
The above novel and 2more novels 'Prateekaram' 'Abhayapradanam' (both historical related with Hindu Muslim Dynastries) are main attractions in the coming up 'Gadya sahitya sarvaswams' of Puttaparthivaru. 
The two big historic stories in 'Vijaya thoranam' are related to Vijayanagara Empire and they are also quite interesting.

Dear Friendz.....
Since the commencement of JAYA VATSARAM with  UGADI- I am very very busy in preparing the 'GADYA SAHITYA SARVASWAMS' (Three parts) ready for release. U alllllllllll know that from June 3rd the state will be officially divided into 2 parts.Exactly 60 years back the very first 'BHASHA PARYUKTA RASTRAM' (Andhra Pradesh) was formed in 1953. As maa ayyagaru used to say 'RAAJA KAALASYA KAARANAM' means the rulers and rulers and only RULERS were, are and will be the 'DICTATORS' to change  the TIME (means change of time which includes the thinking, culture, living trends, fashions, arts and what not?) In 2013 this very big state has been divided into 2 piece state. But I think there should not be any 'BARRICADES' for the culture and literature. Is n't it friendz?
Any way, I am also in dead hurry to finish off the work of  'Puttaparthi Gadya sahitya sarvaswams' shortly. I really find myself missed in the "NARAYANA SAHITEE GAHANA VANAM" DEEP forest of literature of maa ayyagaru, going thru all his works at a time. He wrote for the children of 6th class (the then 1st form) 7th class (2nd form) and 8th class (3rd form) also in the year 1953. He wrote in the foreword that I am writing in the language of children so that    'children learning in these classes should develop a 'Deep liking towards their mother tongue and mother land in this newly formed 'Andhra Pradesh' state.' He wrote about some pouranic characters like Narada,  Karna, Pareekshith, some great writers like 'Adikavi Valmiki' Kalidasa,  Pothana, Bhattumurthy and so on, Samrats like Krishna Deva Raya, Khadga Tikkana, Jambukeswara (Kampili Raju) and some Brave Sons of the state like Sardar Patel, Veeresalingam Panthulu, and Arabindo.
I have seen a complete different 'Puttaparthi" in his novels like 'Abhayapradanam' 'Prateekaram' 'Haridaasi' and in stories related to Vijayanagara empire. I have seen him as a great Historian explaining how the Muslim kings conquered and created 'HAVOC' in south India. In one of the places, he refereed to a Foreign traveler's quoted  words that the money got by selling a village woman's ornaments was enough to purchase the then 'Portugeese' country.That was the state of our country especially South India
As a Critic, as a translator, as a Fiction writer and as a POET, Puttaparthi  proved his complete 'SARASWATHI PUTRATVAM' in these writings.
Friendz dears, I have noticed  maa ayyagaru's MOTTO in his life that 'STRUGGLE IS THE ONLY KEY FOR SUCCESS.' success will be at ur feet according to ur struggle. U all know that maa ayyagaru (without any DEGREE) got the golden chance of working at Govt. Arts College, Ananthapur, University of Trivandrum and even at Sahitya Academy Delhi. But he gave importance to his 'ATMASAMMAN' (self respect) and choosen the job of  a teacher  in a small town of the then KADAPA and continued till his last breath in  a very simple life in a simple house.
Having a very nice job and writing 'MAHAKAVYAS' was not at all his choice. He even dared to live near grave yard. All the time  he experimented with life and learnt 14 languages, came up in all his extraordinary intelligence as a "poet" "critic" "Vaggeyakara" "Translator" "commentator" "Orator" and a  "Philosopher" too.
And friendz, pl. understand 'Puttaparthivaru' and his life  and like his sampurna "PUMBHAVA SARASWATITVAM'.

Friendz..dears.....These r the exciting moments captured by the camera on 'Jaya Uagadi' celebrations  (31st March) in Ravindra Bharathi, in the book releasing function. Shriman Mohanthogaru, the CHief secretary Govt of AP released the 'Puttaparthi Padya Kavya Sarvaswam' in the presence of Shriman Mukteswara Raogaru (commissioner, Endowments and Cultural affairs, AP govt) and Dr. Rallbandi Kavithaprasadgaru, (Director ,Department of  Language and  Cultural Affairs,  APgovt). The other dignitories on the vedika were Acharya .Sivareddy,(VC, Telugu University) Acharya Yadagiri (Director, Telugu Academy).Friendz....'Puttaparthi Gadya Sahitya Sarvaswams' (3pats) are also in Que for release. Pl. wait for the above 'Padya sahitya sarvaswam' for the availability( sale) by the Department of Language and Cultural Affairs.

Friendz, This is the coverpage of that book and I am more and moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fortunate to see my name as 'SAMPADAKURALU' for maa ayyagaru's 'Padya kavya sarvaswam'. Acharya Gangisetti gave an exclusive speech on Puttaparthi's Janapriya Ramayanam, Sreenivasa Prabandham and Bhagavatha Sudha Lahari. He in his speech compared Viswanadha and Puttaparthi also. He described the nuances  in Penugonda Lakshmi and Pandari Bhagavatham also.He told that the Bhagavatha Sudhalahari is the very rarest and 'THE VALUABLE' contribution to Telugus by Puttaparthivaru. Totally he presented a comparative study Research paper on Puttaparthi. Thank u very much sir for ur inspring speech. 
Dr.Voleti remembered his reminiscences while working at AIR kadapa in 1980s. Me and Voleti worked as Duty Officers at that place. He very emotionally remembered his rare experiences lunching along with maa ayyagaru at Kadapa in auspecious occassions as Dhanurmasam and so on. He even remebered maa amma's tasty dishes also. He also told that the first ever Documentary of DDK Hyd production was on Maa ayyagaru and my script and other assistance in the production work of that documentary. He quoted several touching stanzas from maa ayyagaru's AGNIVEENA, Purogamanam and penugonda Lakshmi also. His speech was so touching and informative. Thank u very much friend!
Smt. Anuradha- my lil sister, emotionally remembered her childhood days in which maa ayyagaru was only the EVER HERO. She also sang a song written by maa ayyagaru. Thanks LIL.sis....
Me, was very excited to announce the news of 'The releasing of 'PADYA SAHITYA SARVASAWAM' of maa ayyagaru on JAYA UGADI function at RAVINDRA BHARATHI on 31st March. I recollected how maa ayyagaru just forgot the big bundle of 500 copies of 'Sivathandavam' published by Acharya Rangacharya in 1960s in the train itself while travelling from Palem to Kadapa. He was of that habit of forgetting the most important things even, once he immerses in KALIDASA, SHAKESPEARE or Vyasa. Many more such Instances r there in his life. I remembered Sri Vallampati Venkata Subbayya-a great critic. I thanked Sri Kompellagaru foe giving this golden oppourtunity to remember maa ayyagaru on his 100th birthday. Friendz...on 31st JAYA UGADI day maa ayyagaru's 'PADYA SAHITYA SARVASWAM' is going to be released. Jai Guru Dutta!

on 10th March maa ayyagaru's STATUE was inaugurated in PENUGONDA maa ayyagaru's birth place under the able guidance of Sr.Asavadi Prakasa Raogaru. Sriman Roddam Prabhakara Rao presided over the function and maa ayyagaru's contribution to Telugu Literature was applauded by the speakers. I could not attended the function as u know 'cause of hectic work in publication work of maa ayyagaru. These r the related photos. (courtesy- Rajan- a close relative of mine from Penugonda).......

Friendz dears.....Yesterday and today complete were very important for me in this process of maa ayyagaru's PADYA GADYA SAHITYA sarvaswams and as a bonus 'ASTAKSHARI KRUTHULU' also. I was in press yesterday in doing the final corrections for Padya sahitya sarvasvam. Today my activity in A.P.Manuscripts library was setting the notations of the 20 keerthanams of maa ayyagaru that were re-written by Sriman Komandurivaru. The book releasing function of "Astakshari kruthulu" is on 21st of this month. The staff in the A.P.O.M.L. is also working hectically for the release of the book. Friendz....Maa ayyagaru's Sathajayanthi (by the grace of Guru Datta (Gandgapur) is coming to end with a great GIFT of his complete works for his lovers. I thank whole heartedly all the higher ups and officials that gave support and took initiative in this MEGA EVENT' . Though there were some disturbances and delays due to the present political situation in the state, the works that were planned are going to complete within the stipulated time. Jai Guru Datta!
